Our Mission

In 2019, a group of like-minded chess enthusiasts and parents from Dakshina Kannada came together with a shared vision — to provide better opportunities and a stronger platform for young chess players in our district. Recognizing the need for more official rated tournaments and structured support for aspiring players, we decided to form an organization dedicated to the growth of chess in our region.With this goal in mind, the Dakshina Kannada Chess Association (DKCA) was officially registered under the Karnataka Societies Act in 2019. Since then, DKCA has successfully organized numerous district, inter-district, state, national, and international tournaments, creating valuable opportunities for young players to earn FIDE ratings and gain exposure to higher levels of competition.

Beyond tournaments, the association strives to promote chess as a tool for mental development, discipline, and strategic thinking among students. DKCA continues to work closely with schools, clubs, and parents to build a strong and vibrant chess culture across Dakshina Kannada.

Our Vision

To nurture a generation of skilled and confident chess players from Dakshina Kannada, empowering them to compete and excel at state, national, and international levels, while fostering a lifelong love for the game.

• To organize regular district, inter-district, state, national, and international chess tournaments, including FIDE-rated events.

• To promote chess in schools and communities through awareness and training programs.

• To identify, mentor, and support young talents from both rural and urban areas.

• To create a strong support system for players, coaches, and parents to ensure the sustained growth of chess in Dakshina Kannada.

• To represent Dakshina Kannada as a leading district for chess excellence in Karnataka and beyond.
